SETUP
How to connect Discord to Nodown
Set up takes about 2 minutes. No code required.
- 01 Create a Discord channel webhook In your Discord server, open the channel settings for your monitoring channel. Go to Integrations → Webhooks → New Webhook. Give it a name like "Nodown" and copy the webhook URL.
- 02 Add the integration in Nodown Go to Alerting → Integrations → New Integration → Discord. Paste the Discord webhook URL, name the integration, and click Test to send a sample message to your channel.
- 03 Assign to your monitors In each monitor's settings, select the Discord integration under Alert Channels. Monitors can have multiple integrations — for example, both Discord and PagerDuty for critical endpoints.

Do I need to install a bot on my Discord server?
No. Nodown uses Discord's Incoming Webhooks feature, which posts messages as a webhook integration. No bot permissions or server-level approvals are required.
Can I customize the Discord alert message format?
The message format is standardised across all alerts for consistency. If you need custom payloads, use Nodown's Webhook integration which allows fully custom JSON payloads to any endpoint.
